Purpose

The constitutional purpose of the 3rd CD DPW is to elect a Democrat to Congress. We've done that for more than a decade. But we can do more and will in 2008.

Our executive committee meets four times a year to set goals, develop programs and establish new lines of communication that will elect more Democrats. We're recruiting, training and developing resources for candidates and local parties every day.

In 2006, the 3rd CD DPW surprised many on both sides of the political aisle by sending 5 freshmen Democratic legislators to Madison. And 2008 looks even more promising.

What We Do

Each year the 3rd CD DPW engages in a variety of activities.

We hold a district convention in the spring.

In non-election years we work closely with county parties to train activists and build resources.

In an election year, we do the same with our legislative and congressional candidates.

Constantly, we work to build communication networks, develop our own experts, and share ideas that build strong parties.

Most importantly, we encourage teamwork, we take our members ideas and concerns seriously, and we work in our local communities, our counties and our state to make western Wisconsin the best place in the world to live.

Platform

Every two years, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin reviews and revises its platform. A committee takes the initial steps for making changes, seeks input from each congressional district, and then presents proposed revisions at our state convention in June.

Our platform has long led the way in supporting and promoting Wisconsin's progressive values. Supporting things like environmental protection, equal rights, and much more - sometimes decades before those things came to pass.
